Frequently Asked Questions

How does Chiropractic work?
Chiropractic works because you are a self-healing, self-regulating organism controlled by your nervous system. Millions of instructions flow from your brain, down the spinal cord and out to every organ and tissue. Signals sent back to the brain confirm if your body is working right. Improper motion or position of the moving bones of the spine, called a subluxation, can interfere with this vital exchange by irritating nerves and compromising the function of affected organs and tissues.

Is Chiropractic Care Right For Me?
Probably. If you have pain in your neck, back or joints, if you've suffered a sports injury, or have been in an accident, chiropractic may be right for you. However, an exam by a licensed chiropractor is the only way to know whether or not chiropractic care can be of benefit to your particular complaint and health condition.

Do I have to go to the chiropractor for the rest of my life?
No! Most of our patients are finished with their treatment within a matter of days or a few weeks. Some patients don't return again unless they have a problem. However, many patients choose to come back every so often for a "tune up" because adjustments make them feel good and they want to clear up early problems before they become worse. Just as you can benefit from treatment from your dentist or medical doctor throughout your life, you can benefit from chiropractic care throughout your life periodically as well.

What is an adjustment?
Daily neglect, inactivity, injuries and over-exertions often cause joints of the spine to "jam" and cause irritation and pain. Chiropractic adjustments usually involve a quick thrust that helps add motion to the spinal joints that aren't moving right. Some methods use the doctor's hands or a small mechanical adjusting device called an Activator. Either way, Chiropractic adjustments are an extremely effective and painless method of freeing these joints so that they can function normally, relieving you of pain, and returning you to normal activity.

How many adjustments will I need?
The number of adjustments varies with each patient and his or her individual health goals. Many patients sense progress within a week or two of frequent visits. Visits become less frequent as your spine stabilizes. In chronic cases, complete healing can take months or even years.

Is the treatment painful?
No. We take great care to perform treatment that is comfortable. In fact, most patients look forward to receiving it.
